the best place to mount it is in the fourth runner on the exhaust manifold, closest to the firewall, before they meet into one

Do you need an EGT gauge if you are just running stock boost? I am working on a swap and I would like just do the boost/vac and fuel pressure unless that is a bad idea. I would then get the EGT when I turn up the boost.

I personally dont think the fuel pressure gauge is as important

egt gauge will tell you very quikly if your running to lean or rich by gas temps!! i suggest getting one !!! even if its for more peace of mind to a paranoid owner like me!

I put my EGT into the part right before the turbo downpipe.

You shouldn't have the EGT problem after the turbo. It's not very accurate.

Why? I say in the turbos exhaust house. It fits perfectly and you will get the tru temp in the turbo. If you cant watch them all it's better to messure them togther. (hope you understand)

Well, yes it a point, but you also miss the change to see if some of the other 3 have problems by bad injectors etc.

Sorry if this at all sounds ignorant but what is the difference between the A/F ratio Gauge and an EGT???

a/f ratio tells you the air to fuel ratio at wide open throttle, the egt tells you what the exhaust gas temp is...its always reading and you can tell when things are getting way to hot, its really good, it tells you when you need to back down like on a long hwy race

That depends on your setup and your goals. I have run as high as 950C with my standard turbo. The car manage that, but you have a very small marginal if something goes wrong. I will try to have around 900 as maximum on highway. You don't get that high on the quater mile. (i dont. Maybe 850+ when there was upp to 950 on hard highway driving)

And a tip is to get a good EGT meter that coop with high temperaturs. Autometer is F, and max out way to fast in my opinion. I have a Greddy that i'm very pleased with.

you can run it in the downpipe, but obviously for comparitive measures, your numbers are going to be different than running as soon as it comes out of the motor(which you really want idealy)...so your EGT's at a specific RPM will differ than someones in the 4th runner

How does the sensor fit in? thats something i never understood... Do you have to drill into the exhaust manifold?

I didn't meen the downpipe doe, (mine is in the turbos exhaust house)

Downpipe is an easy place, but its really bad since you dont know how much heat the turbo "takes" (about 50-150)

1500 is where things really start getting bad. Keep it around and below 1400 and you'll be fine. If the car is tuned safely, it should even go down under boost as the car runs a bit richer, and the higher fuel content cools some of the air.

its best to monitor the hottest cylinder if anything .. #4 will be one of the first to fail if somthing goes wrong !!!

ideal would to monitor each and every cylinder but thats just over kill!!!
