i just got some gauges and i need to know the best place to place my egt sensor.

i was reading that on most vehicles its 2-3" form cyld #3, and then i hear that on "sr" its clyd #4.

also should i even attempt to drill into my revhard manifold to place this sensor?

and how bad and inaccurate will it be to place it after the turbo like on the downpipe?

thanks

If your not going to place the EGT probe as close to the head as possible your waisting your time. You want to place it on the third cyl.

Placing it after the turbo would be completely useless...

If you have the car running at 2-2.5k rpms and drill slowly into the manifold you will be fine. The back pressure will force the metal shavings out of the manifold instead of going through the turbo.

i may have to pull the turbo out im scared of shaving in the turbo... man that gona suck.

thanks so it has to be on #3 cyld, and as close as to cylinder as possible.

will i have any heat issues interfering with the sensor?

The method i told you works really well as long as you follow the directions. Just rev the car up past 2.5k and drill slowly. I personally think thats safer than drilling the runner out with the manifold on the car. Nothing beats taking the manifold all the way off the car and doing it, but if you do it without the turbo on the shavings are going to fall into your manifold and it might be tricky to get them all out.

Heat issues interfering with the sensor? I dont know what your talking about, the EGT probe is built for mad heat so it can take whatever beating you can throw at it. Nothing is going to be hotter than EG's on your engine so you dont need to worry about any interference.
