EGT Runner to tap?

Hey all,

just a lil help... does anyone know what runner to tap the EGT temp sensor for an SR20, im setting up to drilln tap on fri and im just tryin to do some research.

you can do it in the collector area for an average reading of all cylinders or its usually done on runner #1.

My suggestion: None.

EGT gauges are kinda worthless on Nissan applications...DSM guys like to use them to tune b/c they have active timing control...but since we dont, then by the time an EGT gauge reads super high...the motor's dead anyway.

And if you want it for a A/F "check" to be sure it's OK...then it's even more useless b/c timing affects EGTs as much as a lean or rich condition.

SO...my suggestion is to ditch it, sell it on eBay...and put that money towards a wideband...a truly useful tuning tool.

...

But, if you MUST keep it...then put it on the collector.

I agree, if you dont have a wideband you should sell it and get one, plus the egt setup is almost half the price of a decent wideband anyways and it's not even close to being as usefull.

hmm, did not know that.I accualy pieced together a few gauges thru a couple friends of mine spent roughly 200 on three nice gauges. (ine guy happened to be a dsm'r LOL)

EGT is very important, you might be running really rich and think its safe, but if your timings retarded for some reason egt could still be really high. Get both, but first get egt if your on a budget.
