EGT readings?

I am trying to figure out what my EGT reading should be on an SR20DET motor. I have the S15 motor and a couple of months ago, I had to pull out my cams and reinstall them. At that time I did not have an EGT gauage, but now I do and that thing is reading 1200 degrees just cruising at 2500 rpm's. I think that pretty high. I have checked the cams for proper installation and looks just like the pictures that I took before I pulled them out, so I believe they are back in correctly. My timing is set at 2 lines to the right of the colored line (which im not really sure what that is). Is that temp OK? or is she ready to melt down? and also, is my timing set correctly? Any ideas?
