does anyone know if the exhaust manifold that comes with the fmax kit has an EGT bung ?

i think the downpipe does. Mine was bought second-hand but had a weird about EGT sized hole in it that was plugged.

i thought EGT sensors were supposed to be in the exhaust manifolds close to one of the exhaust ports ...

they can be, but i think the downpipe would be a tad more accurate. Not more accurate in terms of exact temperatures, but more of an average baseline of the cylinders combined which isnt ideal, but having 1 EGT sensor isnt ideal anyways. 4 would be ideal

yea mine is 1" away from the head in cylinder #4 runner. from what i read thats the last cylinder to get fuel so it would be the leanest but the fpr is right there so who knows. my unlce's shop uses egt sensors in each runner when they are tunning engines they build.

the fmax kit doesnt have a egt bung in their downpipe or their manifold. Their downpipe does have an extra bung used so you can insert a wideband 02 sensor used for tuning at the dyno or for monitoring air fuel ratios.

yeah thats what i was afraid of...i was reading a tune up somewhere else that included an fmax manifold where they just tapped straight into the manifold without welding an extra boss over the manifold ?? any experience with the reliability of that kind of set-up ?

depending on the type of egt kit u kit it wont work. The probe on mine is like 2-3 in. long so you have to use the boss in order for the probe to clear the manifold runners.

makes sense ... the only reason i asked is that i thought that welding into cast steel posed problems ...
