EGRC Solenoide Valve, Code p1400 96 240

I have done my research on this code from the FSM and it seems that unless i have a wiring problem that i have to replace this part. Iv got a bone stock 1996 240 sx, and this code it stoping me from getting my tags. My question is.. is there any other way to get to this peice without taking out the intake man. ? I cant even see the damned thing, i see the bracket its sposed to be on, i can see a vacume line that runs to it, and thats about it. Anyone have experiance with these? The part is between the firewall and the heads on the engine.
