egr with turbo?

i have a kade that i plan on turboing this summer. anyway what are my options on the egr system..

should i block it off? will i get an engine code if i do so?

im going to be making my own downpipe and exhaust, can i just weld the egr tube so it meets up with my downpipe?

let me know what you guys have done..ive been reading the forums for a while but never paid attention much to what was done with the egr when you guys turboed

You really don't need it unless you have the strict emissions stuff where you live. I personally took mine off, but my car is still registered in FL. All the people that ask/look at my car up here in MA are always telling me I'm crazy for taking it all off, and that I'm gonna get ticketed/impounded, etc... If you live in a place with crazy emissions or whatever, find a relative in a state that doesn't have them! And I don't think it will throw codes as long as you're OBD-I. (i.e. 89-95ish) And there is a write-up on how to take all that stuff off if you need it. It's at the top of the page.

i wouldnt mind taking it off as long as it doesnt throw a code. as far as i know in ny, all we get for obd 1 is a code check(i think? maybe we dont get that) and visual emmissions inspection..so i might be in trouble there, but at the same time ill have a top mount turbo there so it kind of gives away the fact that im not legal anymore to begin with..

my exahust right now is headers, hollow cat, and a ****ty muffler..its loud as balls and it passed inspection since the guy just looked to see if the cat was there

When I removed mine it didn't throw a code, I have a obd 1 95....

My 93 ka obd1 isnt throwing any codes and hasn't since its been removed 6 months ago.

I dont have my egr on and I throw a code. I clear it probably once a month sometimes once every two months.

PErhaps the S13's won't throw a code, but all of the S14's will.
