hey everyone recently found out my egr doesnt hold a vaccuum so got one from the junkyard that works but cant get the old one out. so, can anyone give me any advise on how to remove the egr valve exhaust bolt? its the bolt that comes from the exhaust and bolts to the egr i cant get the wrench on there cause there is no room for it maybe a shorter wrench or wat?

I spent the better half of a day tearing my engine bay apart with this same exact problem. The best way to get the egr out is to unbolt the egr valve AND the exhaust tube connected to it from the drivers side exhaust manifold. Once you pull out the egr along with the tube, you can then unbolt the tube from the egr valve. It was the easiest way we found to do it. I can probably get some pictures up if you really need them. But if you are having vacuum issues, there might be several other contributing factors. The whole egr system uses miles of tubing with another solenoid valve located underneath the passenger side intake plenum behind the power steering pump. The problem could be anywhere, this diagram might help

I replaced my EGR valve (new) when I also had then plenum out to replace all six injectors. I ended up buying an inexpensive 27mm combination wrench and cutting it to a length that allowed loosening the large nut (penetrating oil) on the driver's side. A few other engine bay items also needed to be removed.

Replacing the EGR valve (use anti-seize) with the plenum off might have been tougher than replacing the plenum itself.

I'd really want to make sure that the replacement EGR valve I'm installing is going to last, and from what I've read, even a new one can be bad right out of the box = test before installing.

Best of luck.

well i got it replaced and wow that as pain to do and it made a big defference to how it ran since its been this way for three years. also made it run quitier which is good i guess. i had to do exactly as you said, cut the wrench to size and then i was able to do it. it was just hard cause i was trying not to take much off like the heater lines running back there and keeping the intake on. only thing i took off was the balance tube and the wire harness. and i used a 1 and 1/16th since that all i had that fit and it is the same as a 27mm.
