So I thought about removing my EGR when I replace my trans... but I hear it helps to reduce combustion temps and therefore reduces the chance for detonation. It makes sense but how much does it really help and is it worth keeping? Should I remove it and save 100 dollars or replace it with a new one? Also will you notice any power difference with it removed? PS - I have no cats so emissions does not matter. As always Thank You !!!

Well, if emissions does not matter to you, you might as well get rid of it. I haven't really heard of any power gains made from removing the EGR, but I guess there could be miniscule gains. The biggest plus of removing it is that you don't have to worry about replacing it every again.

Jerry, NSRz32, eliminated his with the 300 degree block off kit. Reduces clutter and its one less thing to worry about.

Ill give u a head start

I welded mine shut on my S30, now I can have the intake and exhaust off in about 15 minutes
