I would absolutely take it off and clean it (and the port it bolts on to) with brake parts cleaner. EGR valves aren't usually bad - just dirty.

The EGR is circled in red.(Picture taken from http://www.q45.org for illustrative purposes only)(That & my digital camera sucks)

Be sure to clean out the port where it mounts to the plenum. Mine was almost clogged when I removed it. The EGR passage was clear as was the connecting tube.

Before replacing the EGR, check to see if you are getting vacuum at the hose leading into the EGR. This is supposed to happen at midrange engine speed, i.e. 2000 rpm. If there is no vacuum then you need to start looking at the EGR solenoid valve, wiring and tubing. The test proceedure is listed in the shop manual which can be had at this site.

Kinda. Its on the back of the "log" plenum, closer to the center of the motor.

It feeds off the left bank exhaust manifold just like the G50 EGR does, and the EGR itself should look close to the same, if not the same, as the one on the G50.

Note: If he had his model year posted in his profile I wouldn't have assumed it was a G50.

Actually, it is not because it doesn't show the EGR tube inside the plenum. There are 3 EGR gaskets required.

A little sneaky!
