ok a little education here....
EGR: Exhaust Gas Recirculation
Basically what this does is recirculate some of your exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber. What this does is put more Nitrogen into the chamber in order to take up space. When the space is taken up, that means less air/fuel can get in. Which means it takes less to ignite the mixture. Which in turn, lowers combustion temperatures. Which prevents the formation of oxides of nitrogen aka NOX. And since the valve only operates at cruise, it does nothing for performance. So disconnecting it does nothing but raise temperatures in the combustion chambers during off idle conditions.
So disconecting it does absolutely nothing, but cause more pollution.
