hi , my 98 240sx shows error code 32 , wich is egr temperature too high or too low so i tried to locate the egr sensor and thats where my problem is , service manual shows egr temperature sensor close to the egr but i cant find it .if someone had the same problem please help me find the damn thing , my emission test is due very soon and its not gonna pass .other than that car is running good .could it be from installing injen intake ?

EGR throws random codes...reset it, and if it's not back within a few miles, forget about it.

But to answer your question, it's located between the #2 and #3 intake runner, on the lower half of the intake manifold. Looks like a bolt with two wires coming out of the top...

Anyway, it throws that code when the ECU does a quick check to see if things are operating normally...and it WILL throw false codes. I'll bet everything is just fine...

Just reset and forget, for now...

Could you elaborate on why the ecu throws a false Code 32? I have a blitz Nur-spec catback on my KA, and I've been getting the peek-a-boo CEL. (comes on and goes off intermittently) I'm not too worried about it, as it's the only code I get, and the car runs fine. I just figured that it's just due to lack of backpressure (which is required to activate the EGR). What would make the ecu throw out a false code?

Cheers,C

The EGR code is thrown when the ECU looks to the EGR temp sensor for a specific resistance...if it's out of spec, then the CEL comes on.

Yours is probably not related to that...and the EGR does not need backpressure to function (the intake manifold is under vacuum at ANY time the EGR valve is opened...it does not function under WOT).

I would bet yours is 2nd O2 sensor...if it's an S14.

Pull the codes, see what it gives you (there are instructions on myt website, see the sig below).

the thing is i cant just reset the computer , i live in chicago and the emision test for cars that are 96 (obd2)and up includes computer check via obd2 plug , if i just reset the computer the system must finish all diagnostics checks (it takes 1 -2 weeks) and if it didnt you must come backother time to do it again . do you know if there is a lot of work to get to egr sensor? does intake manifold must come out? thanks

Well if you want it to never throw a code again, get a 100k ohm resistor from radio shack and cut off the egr temp sensor and put the resistor there. Boom no more code 32!
