i know theres been lots of posts about this but i'm still a little confused. i removed the whole system. the tube from the header to the egr, the egr, the weird thing on the back of the motor that has like 6 recirculating hoses on it and i took out the little saucer thing on top of the egr. i just want to know where and what needs to be plugged/relocated. i'm assuming the FPR hose can just go to the one on the intake mani. but that leaves me with two rubber hoses and two metal hoses that rubber ones once went on. i will try to post pics soon. thanks

hi guys, i have a few questions because im thinking about doing this also.first off, does removing the EGR make the CEL stay on? im kinda concerned about smog reasons and such.and secondly, what does removing the EGR exactly do (particular benefits)?my check engine light goes off and on, ive checked my ECU several times and the code keeps showing EGR malfunction so im thinking about just taking the sucker out completely.

from what i've read you won't pass smog with it removed. the only real benifit is simplicity. and i don't think anyone makes a turbo manifold with and egr port. i pulled mine because after i rebuilt my head i forgot where all those little hoses went and there doesn't seem to be a good way to see them unless i pull the head again.

miUnikTwo40. which hoses, the rubber ones or the metal ones. i've got 4 empty hoses all togeather.thanks for the replies

Sorry if Im blowing the dust of an old thread, but rather then start up a new one, i figured I post my questions here to. The pics might help with answering anyway.

I recognize most of everything in the 1st pic, but what is the thing in the 2nd pic?

Also how many parts total do you remove during egr delete? I know BPT, EGR hard pipe, and Egr Valve. But what else. Also I assume any of the parts you take of that have vac lines to the manifold, you can cut close to the manifold and cap off?

Also how many sensors will there be, is there some you keep and some you dont? I know one is the egr temp sensor, but you gotta keep that for the resistor trick right?

Also do you leave any parts on there like the solenoid?

Thanks

In the second pic is the vacuum diaphragm that controls the Swirl Control Valves in the intake mani. You can leave as much or as little as you want. If you want to leave to solenoids, then do so, if not then cool. I would remove them for the sake of simplicity. There will only be the temp sensor if your car came so equipped.

You know what I just realized that lol. I found a how to for cleaning the iacv, and they had a link with pics of various valves, and then I smacked my head when I realized what it was.

So basically the 1st pic above, is everything, minus the solenoid. And you don't cut any harnesses, just tape the plugs off and zip tie them to something secure?

Yeah i wanna take off everything

Yes, that is fine for the harness. No point in fooling with it, since it won't set an CEL.
