got a code for an egr soleniod malfunction (p1400?) changed it it w/ a new unit, cleared the code and when i restarted, check engine light came back on. checked the vacuum tube on top of egr valve and there is no vacuum when the engine is under load. anything else i can check? oh yeah anybody figured out what the rough idle and slow acceleration was for the 1999 q45 yet?

you probably replaced the EGR valve not the EGR solenoid.

Theres a solenoid on the front part of the motor (i believe, correct if wrong) that controls the vacuum to the EGR valve... you can test the EGR valve by lifting up on it while the engine is idling, and the engine should run rough or die..

the EGR solenoid is what the ECU uses to control the EGR, when it opens it allows vacuum to pass through the solenoid and then lift the EGR valve.

when you give the car a little gas at idle (like no more than 2000 RPM does the solenoid click?

what I like doing is just unbolting the solenoid and holding it while you give it some gas, and you can feel it click.

Why not the procedure on EC-412 in the 2000 FSM?
