I really would like to clean my EGR, but after reading this thread I'm a bit worried honestly!

just a question did you ever get your infiniti fixed? i am having similiar issues with mine, it wont start normally, and when it does, it chokes down almost immediately, i have removed and cleaned the idle control sensor, reset the computer by disc. the battery for 30 mins., checked both fuel filter and pump, checked spark plugs, im almost at my wits end, any help would be great.

If your state doesn't have a physical inspection and the car doesn't have a EGR temp sensor just remove it. There is a EGR delete kit for the Z32 that works for the J30 as well.

Not sure the EGR would bog the engine down when you start it.Have you cleaned the Maf sensor ??Air filter replaced lately ?

thanks for all your help, i had actually taken my car to a repair shop, who said they put it on a computer, i asked for the codes, they said it did not give any codes, so i naturally assumed it was something that is undetectable by the computer, i read on here that there are things like the idle control sensor, etc. well i removed and cleaned all that, then i noticed the funniest thing, a vacuum hose had not been put on all the way and the bottom had about a one inch gap, allowing way more air in than needed to be, i put it on correctly, and tightened it back down, and the car started up just fine, and no more problem. i plan on going back to the repair shop and demanding my money back, if they had put it on a computer, would it not have shown a code for the vacuum system?

Nope. At the least you would have had a MAF code or maybe o2 but if it was just a small hose then it wasn't enough to mess with the system.

I had help re-installing my plenum, with my son holding onto the passenger side, while I handled the driver side. It took me a while to figure out that he didn't connect the short length of rubber tubing at the passenger side rear corner of the plenum, and the EGR code (32) did pop up, but I don't recall that the CEL was triggered. I think the EGR valve kicks in only under higher load/rpms/manifold vacuum situations and I don't recall any engine starting or idling related issues with the one particular hose not connected, but it was also after the EGR control solenoid.
