if you want to make it more aesthetic to the eyes, get one of those aftermarket oil catch cans...

you could also hook a breather filter up to the left side of the T, but then you'd have a hole in your rubber intake pipe...

does anyone sell those aluminum intake pipes for cheap???

I need to ask this. Why do you want to remove those?

The can is not a carbon filter can, but an oil collection can that drains back into the block.

I was told by someone that it was the egr system, and that it was a carbon filter. i guess that i was given the wrong info.

Like I said in my post that I deleted, SRs have no EGR. What they do have is an AIV (Air Intake Ventilation). Tha AIV allows oxygen to bypass the motor and go straight into the exhaust at idle to help light off the cat. SRs run a little bit rich at idle in stock form and the cat doesn't work just right during that rich state.

The AIV valve sits on a bracket next to the catch can. He could have been talking about that. most people/shops remove the AIV for packaging reasons when they swap it into a US spec car. The AIV tube can contact the steering column during cornering loads.
