Hello guys, I have a simple question regarding to EGR removal. First of all I removed this (Picture1). and there are two small hoses connects to the red circle in picture 2.

Should I remove the device I circled in picture 2 as well? What kind of problem will I run into if i remove that device. Also, is there any hoses I need to block to prevent air leaking?

Thanks for your help

The second disk is called the EGRC-BPT valve. It works in conjunction with the EGR valve, so it's serving no purpose now. I have mine removed right now (still have the EGR crap installed), and the car runs fine.

Definitely remove it, and cap the vacuum line that comes from the back of the intake manifold toward the firewall that connects to this valve, otherwise it will leak out of that line with the manifold is pressurized.

I'm curious too....did you do this with the engine in or out of the car, and with the manifold on or off? Looks like you did it with the mani installed and the engine in...how the hell did you get that third bolt for the EGR valve?

Thanks for the reply. When you said cap the vacuum line that comes from the back of the intake manifold toward the firewall that connects to this valve, I assume there is more valves under the BPT that I didn't see, correct?

Yes, I did remove this damn thing with engine in and manifold on...... took me a good 2 hours to remove the last bolt right under the upper intake manifold.I have skinny arms, I managed to sqeeze part of my arm in between the intake manifold from where the TB is, with a long wrench and turn that damn screw 0.1 degree at a time bit by bit.

It is hard, got cut all over my arm after I was done just b/c the space is so limited and some part of intake manifold is really sharp. Definitely the ghetto style.

took maybe 20min tops on GEO's car with engine in the car and intake manifold on.

get what is called Crows feet. they are like the head of an open end wrench but with a square cut out to put on a socket wrench or extention. works great for things like that since they sit at a 90 degree angle off the extention. i would take a pic if i had them with me

Does the Quest have a KA24DE motor? I don't think so, last I checked it had a VG30E...might wanna check that forum. When you search, pay attention to what forum the thread is in
