Hey guys,

I have been through some serious EGR problems with my KA24DE. I know that for highway cars, the EGR are prone to have problem because at highway speeds, the EGR valves will be opened, making the spring loose over time.

My SR will be used for mainly highways. I will also need to conduct emission tests. I am wondering if the EGR on the SR is hard to remove. I want to leave my EGR systems off for normal driving and put it back on when I do the test. For the KA24DE motor, the EGR is extremely hard to remove. I am wondering if the EGR system on the SR is easier to remove compared to the KA.

If the EGR system is hard to remove, I will simply disable it by unplugging a vacuum hose that activates the EGR vavle.FOr those of you who disabled your EGR system, do you have a Check engine light on?

Also, do you think that I can still pass emission test if I remove my AIV? Can I simply drive my car hard to heat up my cat before I goto emission test if I remove my AIV?

Thanks in advance.

there is an egr system on the red-top cuz i have it. By the way, what is AIV?? Is that air injection into the catalytic converter so that it gets even hotter than it normally would?
