well i pulled my motor because i am going ka-t soon and replacing clutch and some other stuff. first question is what can i remove from the back of the motor and still have it run good. in the pic below i circled what i want to get rid of to clean up the motor a bit so is it possible to remove it all? i circled the egr in blue if u dont what it is. where do i get an egr blockoff plate or something like it. i know many of the ka-t guys have blocked it off so i would like to know how. and anyone who wants to name off what the things circled in the pics are more than welcome.

The only things you really need vacuum for are the master brake cylinder and the IACV. The rest can be plugged. You won't pass tech or emmisions, but it'll run.

yeah i dont have emmisions so i will be ok there. how do i block off the egr? do i completely remove it from the block and plug it with something? and the IACV is the thing that runs into the intake piping? about 1/2" rubber hose?

Dont forget the fuel pressure regulator. I used RTV and a penny to block my EGR off. I believe Structure was selling block off plates. IDK if he still is, but he'll be on sometime to chime in on this.

I was about to make a simular post. So the engine will run with only the Fuel pressure, IACV and master for the brakes?

i have been searching around other forums and have read that you can remove the egr system and just plug the hole up with some rtv and a penny. sounds kinds getto but if it gets the job done i am all for it. unless anyone is selling the egr blockoff plate then i will go that route. can i remove the thing that is circled below also?

and this line is comming out of the fpr that goes into all the other egr lines crap so what would i do about that?

That line coming out of your FPR is for vacuum and is what controls your fuel pressure, don't get rid of it.

Simplicity.

For reference, you can splice a 100k ohm resistor in the egr temp sensor so it will not throw a code 32 (egr).

It just runs to the manifold eventually... so just plug it into any manifold vacuum source.

Secondary butterflies maybe? IDK much about the SOHC. But it looks like the actuator for them on the DE.

the red circled thing is the swirl control valve (butterflys) and the blue is the AICV.

the FRP just needs to see manifold vacuum, no matter how you get it there.

and yes, the motor runs fine with nothing more than the booster, FPR and AICV. doesnt start in the cold for **** though.

the butterflies are in the middle of the intake. some consider that a restriction to the flow. but it does some good at low intake air speed. you'll have to decide because some will say it necessary, others will yank that junk out. there is no right or wrong.

fwiw i still have mine.
