Hey Everyone,
I recently put new headers on my 240 an during installation I could not re install the EGR tube. So I plugged it up. It threw the EGR code which I expected. I would like to know how to by pass this code. Can the ECU be tuned to accept it being plugged? Or can I get a Greddy piggyback and tune that? I want this code gone without buying a stand alone or spend $600 on a Jim wolf ECU.
Thanks

I am sure there are people that can program the ECU but you just have to search for them. I am sorry I don't know of any myself.

Does it turn the Check Engine light on?

Yes, it turns the CEL on. Ever since the header install, its also been throwing the knock sensor?

from what i've heard, most people end up rocking the cel. Thats what ya get when ya start unplugging emissions equipment :/

No its nothing like that. Basically what I want to know is if I order this Greddy piggyback system. Will it trick the ECU into thinking its under normal operation?

Why not take it to a muffler shop and let them reinstall the egr tube. Problem solved.

The only sensor that I can think of that could detect that is the exhaust gas temp sensor (if its a CA model). my EGR doesn't work before but it never threw any codes. try using a federal ECU?

I didn't see the year model in your post, but your profile says 1998 model. This is a obdll emissions car. The ecu monitors egr flow so you cannot bypass without setting a p0401 code. I would hook it back up because it helps stop pinging and spark knock. Spark knock is dangerous to your motor. Without it you would need to retard timing to stop knock at a loss of power.
