i was told the EGR from the stock s13 is not needed for the rb20 at all. ive also tried looking at engine pics for people with RBs and it seems that for the most part nobody is using them. can anyone verify this??

also, if im not using the EGR, what do i do with those two little brass lines that come around the back of the ceramic intake arm. do i just block those off with some hose??

the EGR from the S13...or at least thats what i was told it was. its the little black cylinder right behind the drivers side headlight. if thats not EGR what is it? and do i need it for the RB20.

and

what do those two brass lines coming across the back of the intake arm (that goes across the valve covers) go to?? i thought they might hook up to the little black canister (egr??) but im probably wrong.

thanks,

gamay

thats the evap canister

an EGR would take exhaust gasses from the manifold and route them back to the intake manifold. RB's do not have EGR's

you can run without an evap canister BUT you will fail emissions

think that depends on the state... I don't believe you'll fail w/o one in MD... obd1 they don't pop the hood or anything. all they do is tailpipe sniff and check you have a gas cap.

intake arm ?? oh ok wait... I think you are talking about the intake tube that crosses over the valve covers. and if you are talking about that then you are refereeing to the brass/copper tubes that are just vacuum line hook ups. you can run hoses in there place or use them your choice

but it would be a good idea to show us a pic to make sure.

start the car, if you feel it sucking air, somehow its connected to your plenum so cap it off. if not, leave it alone.
