EGR !! Help!!

I need Help , Advice on this ....So im a recently new proud owner of a 240sx : D . I bought a 90' coupe with a swap Ka24de. it has a greddy bolt on turbo on it , the problem is that i tried making the car quiet. took off the huge greddy exhaust and it worked , but in the engine bay you can still hear this noise as it was sucking in . i though it was the fuel injectors.. but i found out it was the egr vacum thats been wide open this whole time ...i took it to someone to see if they can connect it but , my downpipe was welded (the inlet , where u connect the egr to the downpipe was welded shut) , now i put a rubber cap on the egr vacum , but i wanna know if its going to hurt my engine or if its a bad idea ?

or should i try and put a filrter or such ?though i noticed since i put the cap on the vacum i felt like the car iddles better . but i felt like i was missing some boost ?...

if anyone has any pics of regular egr set ups on KA24de that i can check out that be great ..
