Can I just remove the whole damn thing since I have the motor out or do I have to leave the egr and just cap the two pipes going to the pleneum and vac line on top egr valve? Confused with all tutorials and descriptions of what people have done..mostly cutting and capping.. Thanks in advance for replies!!

To do it PROPERLY, you'll need to make 2 plates to block the openings on the bottom of the intake, a special bolt to replace the EGR valve exhaust fitting and a cap for the EGR vacuum line.

The plates aren't hard to make, and you can use a thin film of copper RTV in lieu of a gasket (reuse the original bolts).
