I have read alot here about the EGR codes from the ECU . Code 32

Before I read the ECU I would get a CEL when on the highway for a short time and it would go out. Then developed a slight surging.

I check things out here and pulled the code 32 and went on to cleaning the Return tubes 1 hour for the passenger side and 2 1/2" for the drivers side. I took them completly off and clean them like new , Total clog up to the first bend on the end going to the intake.

The car surges even more now ! Before I start parting , What are all of your thoughts ?

I figure it could be the EGR valve ( $120.00 ) the vacum soliniod or possibly a weak vacum going to the solinoid . I did check the vacume , not with a meter , but there is a slight vacum all the way back to the EGR valve.

I was not able to clear the 32 code as of yet.

Any help would be great .

So no one has any sugestions ? Could this be mass air flow , something else ?

Try clearing the code, running it down the road a short bit, and checking codes again.

First off , can't do it is not a question , it is find a way and do it..

To get to the EGR valve , I laid a 3/8 sheet of plywood across the engine area to the tops of the fenders. This safley created me a place to just lay on top of the engine and gave good working access to the aeagar valve area. My worst problems was getting my arms in some of the areas . They were sore for a couple of days.

I will check the codes again , I did try a tube to the EGR and manualy operated it. The diafram works and then with the car running manualy opened it causing the engine to run ruff , took off the suction and it smoothed out. I feel like the EGR is not the problem.

I am down to either the EGR solenoid or may be MAF .

I went to a Infinity dealer and talked with a tech. He said even with there Machine sometimes they just end up swapping parts till they find the solution ..... He said the EGR valves very seldom go bad. He leans more to the MAF or possibly a ground ?

He said that since I cleaned the tubes that it just leaned out the mix and made the surge more pronounced.

On the way out , I noticed they had a G35 doing a short block on it , A ton of parts laying on the floor.

Funny thing was , My wife had a G20 , and after service at the dealer one time , oil pressure was low , I returned the car to them and it had a cracked block. They warentied a short block and dufing the repair I dropped by. One of the tech. showed me a nut they found in the oil pan . Seems they had dropped it in the engine durring service !

They stood by it .

Ok , Back to my problem. Anyone worked with the MAF ?

Cleaning the Maf is a snap.Just spray it gently through the screen with ZERO residue contact cleaner.Might also inspect and clean the connector and dab on some dielectric grease before snapping it back on.

I'd say clean the MAF and throttle bodies, and give it the Seafoam treatment. See if that doesn't clear things up. I don't know these cars all that well yet, so I don't know what else tends to cause surging.

Ok , I cleaned the MAF , Throtalbodies , cleared the codes and I get 55 all clear ( from the ECM and the "CEL" both give the 55 code)

Still getting the surge, I am beginning to think I have some bad gas !

Check this out , I cleaned the contacts for the knock sensor and also the conector right next to it , seals had come out a little when replacing the connections so I took them out to let them resize , but in the meantime I connected them back up and drove the car , No surging !!!! Car was not running as strong as normal though . I went home , put the seals back in connected it up and the surge was back ! But still 55 code ?

Any ideas ?

Sounds like the knock sensor retarding the timing.Either the connector is flaky or the sensor is going out.

Search here for the resistor bypass trick for the knock sensor just to verify.Run ONLY 92+ octane if you put the resistor in.

I have tried the knock bypass , replaced the PCV valves .

Still no codes and same problem.
