I searched an old thread about this code, and the guy said he replaced a hose on the EGR valve. I already thoroughly cleaned my EGR unit so it's not a blockage issue. Although it could still be mechanical in nature. I think it must have a leak in this culprit hose. Question is.... is it the hose the comes from the top of the EGR valve into the EGRC-BPT unit? Or the one that goes from the lower side metal pipe connection to the same EGRC-BPT valve? Any ideas? Oh yeah... and I also get a 0325 KS code... it hasn't even been a year since I replaced those damn things, (with OEM sensors, I might add) and already one of them went bad again??? How does that happen? :bang

The knock sensor code is probably due to the egr valve code. The timing is retarded most of the time when a code is thrown and usally causes the knock sensor to go off. I haven't done it myself but if I recall there is a tube that runs into the plenum from the egr valve. That usally gets clogged up and the valve is usally fine. To access that tube you need to remove the plenum.

Like I said I haven't done this myself but I recall someone on here talking about that.

Well, I replaced that vacuum hose that runs on the top between the EGR unit and BPT valve, and the P0400 code hasn't come back on after a day of light city driving... but the P0325 is still bugging around... AAAGGGHHH!! I love this car but it just irritates me that I can't fix it 100% once and for all...
I know which tube you're talking about. Last summer I took the upper plenum off and the EGR valve, and that inner metal tube, replaced those gaskets... and sprayed the crap out of the valve and the tube with B-12 chemtool. The holes in the tube were gummed up but still functional... it was a lot cleaner when I put it back together... but still some carbon was stuck near the end of it. I'm just going to wait until the winter now to take all that stuff off again... I am not doing it in this heat...Thank God for my Subaru in the meantime.
