Okay so I got my flame suit on. I want just wondering if I can still drive the car with a bad or clogged egr valve or hose. I've change every possible vacuum hose there is in the car already so my gut is pointing to the egr valve. but can I put this off a while longer and drive it without out harming the engine? my wallet is exhausted from all the stuff I've put into the car.

the car runs good like there is nothing wrong besides the CEL.

I'm pretty sure it will be fine. Won't pass an emissions inspection probably, but it should be ok.

http://z32.wikispaces.com/EGR+Removal and a $10 kit and you can be rid of your EGR. Just don't do that if you're in California, otherwise, you should be good.

I personally just eliminated my egr. Granted, the egr valve is physically still in place, but it's all disconnected and removed what I could. It was fairly easy and makes plenum pulls super cake. Like stated before, if your not in Cali, do it. P.s. I didn't even buy the block off plates, just made a couple and bought a plug for the stock manifold from my local parts place.

yeah... can't delete my egr I live in California. and you know they are pretty strict on emissions. what I've read on other forums its mostly just a clogged pipe that connected to the egr. I guess i'll change it when I have to go to the smogger again.

That was the case with my Dodge Stratus.

Ive seen the EGR pipes that wrap around under neath the plenum become so clogged with carbon, the carbon has to be drilled out. The pipes are some what accessible but I haven't had to do so myself yet. My EGR code would come and go. Turned out the vacuum lines on the passenger side of the plenum, one goes to the intake hard pipe, one goes to under neath the throttle body, were reversed. :tisk:

Alternatively if your motor can take it, Italian tune up, blast that carbon outta there.

hmmm not a bad idea, sorry I have never heard of the term Italian tune up till now. I will try that next week with a bottle of lucas fuel treatment and see how it goes. :bigthumb:
