Good afternoon everyone...

I am in the process of finishing my turbo build on my KA, and have that "EGR block off plate". I took off the 2 of the 3 bolts that connect the EGR to the intake manifold, but can't seem to get to that last bolt. It's under the last runner for cylinder 4. I'm thinking that then intake manifold has to come off in order to get to it, but then I'll have to take the upper rad hose off, and I wanted to avoid doing that in order to not have to bleed the KA again, as it traps air very easily. Is there another way to get to that bolt? Thanks

Pretty sure you have to take off the intake manifold to get that. Thats how i did it atleast.

Haha your worried about being able to get the air out of your coolant? Dude! Taking off the intake manifold is the worst job on the Ka. Id do the oil pan 5 times over before i ever take the intake manifold off again while then engine is in the car.

GL!

Haha, that's what I thought. I'm gonna see if I can wiggle a 1/4 drive socket in there with a universal on it. I doubt it, but I'll try. That bolt on the fuel rail is also such a pain in the ***!

You could try just removing the lower intake manifold (i.e. just enough to get a socket in there) - of coruse, you will want to change the gasket from upper -> lower manifold after this.

I removed my entire intake manifold as well since I was working on other things.

I'll try that tonight. I'm going to see how I fair with the 1/4 drive socket on there. It MIGHT fit.

OKAY!

I actually got the bolt out. Now it just won't come out without pulling the intake manifold, or cutting the pipe that goes to the exhaust manifold off. I'm going with option B. Now I have to get rid of a **** load of extra vacuum lines back there.
