Hey guys,

Trying to get my Z on the road soon. As some of you know, the previous owner destroyed my stock exhaust in an attempt to try to fix my transmission (which he obviously did not have the skills to attempt to work on). So, I had to go ahead and get some headers and custom bend pipe out to my mufflers. Had to weld on flanges and hangers and all. Was a real process on the Z...

Anyways! Now that I have done away with every single piece of the stock exhaust, I was wondering how to remove as many of the exhaust related emission devices as possible without changing the way the vehicle operates. Obviously I could just yank the EGR and plug the hole, but what about PCV and other emission parts? How easy are they to get at (EGR looks like a pain), and what can I do to keep them from throwing codes?

I no longer have Cats, but as there is no post-cat sensor on the '95 and older Z cars, I don't think that the car will notice, or care. But I would prefer to remove as much of the emission-regulating equipment as possible to try to gain back some economy and power. The eventual plan for the car is to engine swap, so I don't want to get too much money invested in this project, but if I can get a few ponies for cheap while I save up to finish my engine swap, it would make my wait more enjoyable :) .

I know there are some kits out there for removing the EGR. Is there a kit for anything else? and how will removing them effect the computer? Will it throw codes? or not allow you do certain things? Or can you just yank them out and go and the computer wont care?

On most newer cars I've worked on you have to change some things around in the computer to trick it into thinking that the parts are still there and doing their job, or it will throw a code and limit power and rpm. Sometimes you have to get some kind of kit to trick the computer, but i've done some before with just a resistor.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!
