Hello,

My engine will be here in about 2 weeks. I have question on EGR. I searched and found that most ppl here took out the EGR. My question is how did you guys do it? Like, what plug to use on the turbo extension, what to do with the hole in the intake manifold where the EGR goes to etc. On AIV, I already got the plug for the turbo extension hole, what about on the other side? How do you guys plug it? Finally do you guys use the 240sx carbon canister (for fuel vapor from the tank)? If you remove it, what do you do with the vapor hose from the tank? If you keep it, where do you route the output of the canister? Thanks in advance for answers. As I said my engine is not here yet so I don't have a clear picture of what's where on the engine.

leave the canister under the car by the gas tank alone. It still serves a purpose. You need it to help combustion. It sends the excess evaporate gas to the intake manifold for combustion. Do you ever notice a hissing sound when you take off your gas cap? There is a certain amount of pressure in your gas tank obviously due to the gases. They have to go somewhere so the evap canister regulates that. There is a vapor line, vacuum line and a purge line for the process. As far as the EGR goes. Basic process. Just plug it off. And say it with me everyone,"woopty dooo, Whats emissions testing?"

I had the same question with the charcoal canister? Are you saying you can just leave the thing on the engine compartment (located in s14's). Or how should the vacuum line hook up to the SR20det s13?

TIA

This is an old post but I thought I would spill a little since my friend and I who are just both starting to study to become Lexus mechanics were examining my engine compartment to see about reinstalling the charcoal canister. I found it disconnected in my trunk when I bought the car. My canister has color coded lines but the doesnt help much. There are three lines running into the top of the can and one going out. One of these (the very top) runs off of manifold vacume to open the valve to allow the gas into the intake. That one sould connect to a connection on the bottom of the intake manifold right before the throttle body. That way it only opens the valve under load. The connector below that one on the canister should connect to another spot on the intake manifold behind the throttle body. Now here is where we stopped looking: I found one of the lines running from the gas tank right next to the line that runs into my fuel filter on the left side of the engine compartment (facing the car) kind of behind the intake manifold. Now I dont know which of the lines from the tank this is so I am not sure exactly where to hook it up because there should be a line running from the tank into the canister and one back to the tank.

I also need to hookup the egr if it is not there. I havent looked into that. (I need my sr to get though the sniffer)

Eric
