has anybody bought one? i bought one and the pipes do not match up at all. the pipe that comes out of the passenger side points at the alternator. then it is about 6 inches to short to reach the pipe that goes to the intake manifold...

my questions are

did you have trouble running the charge pipes. and what did you do to run them?

You will need to fab a hotpipe and a half the cold piping. Good luck.

I think I read those kit fit fine if you have all the stock piping that came with the engine. I think they use part of the piping that I bet you dont have. Ive never bought one of these kits but i remember people posting that the had to use part of stock piping to make work or make your own. What ever floats you boat we cant all aford the top $ stuff. I just look at it as id rather do it right the first time then have to do it twice and hacked together. Good luck im shure you will make it work.

Oddly enough, I just ordered the R33 Skyline FMIC kit from XS-Power today. I know that it is not the best, but I am giving it a try. $172 SHIPPED for the entire kit.

I would love to go with a Hybrid kit, but I just don't have the funds. I've invested about 9 grand so far, over a 2 year period, and my car has never moved under it's own power. I had a total of $500 MAX that I could spend for the rest of my parts (FMIC kit, Fans, Fan controller, electric water gage, Defi cable, anything else.)

I _know_ the XS-Power kit is not 'great' by any means, but I think it will work. I'm going to give it a try. If I have problems with the pipes, I'll use them as templates and fab some up that will work, but this gives me a decent starting point and gives me a definite end point that is in sight.

PS I do still have the piping that came with my half-cut, so I have that for spares as well.

preston,

Hmm.. Here is a direct quote from their site"$172.00 INCLUDING SHIPPING - USA" per http://xs-power.com/nissan/nissan007.html

I will see what happens. It has been this price for at _least_ 2 months. I'm sure they would have "caught the error" in that time, but hey, shady stuff happens :-\

If the above listed kit is the same as you had, I'm stoked. I ordered it via Pay Pal from their site. The SSAC site has it listed for $275 though... Interesting to see how this will turn out. They said it will ship on Monday...

If you compare these two pictures, they are the same, one is just a lower resolution.

XS-Power:

SSAC:

The pictures are identical. So, again, we shall see!

Let it be known that I too had a 'mis quote' on price for shipping of my intercooler piping kit.. Essentially I JUST wanted the piping as I already had an intercooler and the price went from 112 shipped, to an extra 20$, and then up another 10 for shipping..

Just be certain that you explicity have them say the cost, you send them that and "no take backs"... Otherwise they will have 100 some odd dollars and refuse shipping since its not the total amount.

BE CAREFUL.

Well, shoot. That would have been good to know earlier... Have them quote me the price before paying for it.

I made a printout of the PayPal transaction, and a print-out of their site...So I shall find out soon enough. If I have to, I will have PayPal reverse the charges and refund my money.

I personally bought the XS-Power kit off of the site and had no problems with getting it... I already knew that XS-Power is SSAC but that didn't bother me for the price.

As in ways of the piping not fitting correctly... 2 of the pipes actually ran very nicely for the cold side, but the hot side I had to comletely fab up... I cut the one other pipe that I had from the kit, got a 90 degree silicone coupler, and one 2.5" ID section of exhaust tubing from Autozone for like $5... A few extra couplers and it's all together... mind you the hot side doesn't look pretty, but it holds boost very well.

It is true you get what you pay for, but if you know what you're getting then it's perfectly fine to be cheap, we just can't complain later when **** breaks lol.

and finally.. somebody actually answers on 'what I had to do to get it to work'...

Thank you _very_ much for the description. You have also helped to calm me.

I know full-well that I am not receiving a TRUST or ARC setup, but I also don't have a grand or more to drop on an FMIC kit. As long as it works for up to a year, I'm good.

i have nothing against these generic intercoolers kit. you have to know that it require some additional work to get it fit nicely, i'm all good with that! again, for the price, a generic intercooler and piping will be fine.
