which engine will last longer while outputting X?

}where X=MPG)

which engine has or can be made to get the best X @ Y lb.-ft. / Y hp?

}where Y = power output (the KA24DE makes 155/155 right? makes things easier).

i'm thinking the CA18DET would be more efficient because doesn't a turbo take advantage of already present exhaust gasses?

please provide multiple reasons that with an explanation why (use as much deep tech talk as possible,) i need to learn somehow.

newb here, so bear with me...

thanks

1) If you want a performnce motor and HP...forget about gas mileage. Or go buy an S2000.

2) A turbo'd motor is a more efficient system...but more power takes more fuel. It's a direct realtionship, you can't get energy for free.

...

So the answer is: Whichever motor makes less HP.

I think in almost any sceanrio, the KA will win out over a high-revving, turbo'd CA. Not in power, not in "fun factor"...but in overall, average gas mileage with decent power to boot.

The KA is a massive stroker air pump compared to the CA obviouly better gas mileage, stick a turbo at low boosting on the KA and get even better gas mileage. If you want a high rev KA like the CA destroke the ka TO 2.0 OR 2.2 LITRES.Besides the KA is nothing more but remanufactured DOT/EPA approved parts from the CA, NAPS-Z, and even the VG.......Why even consider CA, unless you are into the CVET technology..........

are you doing a project for a physics final or something?

in terms of efficiency i don't think lasting longer means anything.efficiency is defined as : power out / power in and i believe pump gas has a Power of 14 kwh/L ( supplying the power in )which means if you are getting say for example 140 kw of power out of your engine, the efficiency of this engine would be about 10%. which is about average. the most efficient engine ever designed is the Carnot engine, and even they only run at about 20% efficiency ( dual adiabatic processes). i guess i really didn't answer your question. but if you want to find the efficiencies of the KA vs the CA find out which octane gas you're using , and calculate how much potential energy (in terms of power) it can produce, and then convert HP into Kilowatts and then find out how efficient your engine really is. if it's over .20 then you've done something wrong, cuz neither of these engines will ever come close to that of a carnot or stirling engines' efficiency. uh, yeah.... that's all.

i just got rid of my ca.. and let me tell you.. go ka and eventually turbo it. the ca only has about 25 more hp then the ka and it runs hi 14's low 15's all day.. a boosted ka will eat up a ca. ca's are no fun, so dont consider it unless you just want a turbo and have a low budget. also, the ca gets desent gas mileage.. but i didnt notice a difference after the swap. imho i think the gas mileage between the 2 engines is around the same. i didnt grandma the ca either when i had it but if this is about what engine to choose... def go with ka-t

In a similar question we're all talking about KA24DE-T, but what if you were comparing the KA24E-T and the CA18DET, which one would actually be a better/cheaper setup with good HP results? Just curious.. cuz that's where i stand right now.. boosted ka24e or ca18det, and it seems that cost will come to just about the same. Help!!!

Im kinda in the same boat. Its either ka24e-t or ca18det. First I gotta find out how good of condition my engine is actually in.

Hi, I have two cars : a 240sx with ka24de and automatic transmission (but the body in very bad shape) and a 200sx with ca18de with manual transmission (but with the engine ****ed up). So, I want to take out the ka24de from the 240sx (without the automatic transmission, cause I prefer manual) and to put it into the 200sx. If you got me, at the end i want manual transmision with ka24de in the 200sx. I hope I was clear (at least I tryed to) For these operation I want some advises regarding the motors changing, if it works or not, if I can put the ka24de with the manual transmision and if it will fit, and everything regarding my problem that I have. I really have to do the changing cause otherwise it doesn't work. I saw that you did a swap like this. Please help me with my cars. Thx.
