I finally started the car up yesterday after rebuilding the motor. i lost my intelligence somewhere along the way and ended up purchasing a socketed ecu w/o a tuned chip, though thats what i had intended on buying and i never thought to look or clarify. so that leaves me with a stock ECU and 440cc injectors and a z maf until I can get my chip in the mail. Is it safe to drive the car like this? The motor has just been rebuild, so I can't go boosting around the neighborhood for a while, but would the maf + injectors cause a condition where the car runs too rich/too lean for grandma driving? I don't want to wash the walls on a fresh rebuild or run too lean and cause damage, however i would like to start the break in process. thanks for the help.

me neither even if you could get it started it would probably run rich as hell. not sure what the effect of the mass air flow sensor would be without compensation. probably just wouldn't recognize its signal and would run in limp mode.

You'll be washing down your freshly done cylinder walls with petrol which is not good for your new rings.

more than likely, i'll be getting it from a t88lexus (i think that was his name on this forum).

so glad i got to hurry up and put the finishing touches on the car only to find out i have to wait 2 more weeks before i can drive it.

thanks to everyone that responded. the car will remain where it has for even more time until it can be driven safely.
