What can I do to my Z without adding exhaust to add extra HP? I already have the Injen CAI and I've heard new camshafts and a performance chip can add more. Is there any truth to this? Anyone have first hand experience with either of these? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!!

Cams are expensive...but so are the other options (boost apps) NOS is a cheaper alternative, but it won't always be there like boost.

There isn't a "chip" available, only programing the ECU, which isn't worth it without a few power adders.

I would go with a high end aftermarket exhaust; they cost more, but the sound isn't that loud ricer sound...more of a deep rumble. Stillen or Nismo are good choices.

Welcome to Nico!underdrive pulley? headers? plenum spacer, or aftermakket plenum? you could always do a full port and polish on the intake and heads, but boost is thebest bargain and doesn't make much noise

i'm looking to do similar stuff to my Z, but I want to keep it all under warranty. I'm about to buy a nismo cold air intake...any other suggestions on warrantied nismo stuff that will help performance that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Why do people change out their exhaust systems, other than wanting it to sound different? What's wrong with the dual exhaust stock system?

For warranty, the stillen supercharger will come with a 3-year warranty on the engine.

Most bolt-on parts will not void the factory warranty; but you start adding NOS, and then you're in gray water. Nismo stuff is only warrantied if you have the dealer install the parts...not cheap.

Aftermarket exhaust systems increase flow, which in turn, increases HP. However, some cheaper brands don't do either, and have the distinctive "ricer" sound.

Headers are expensive, and can be very finicky if not perfectly installed. Nothing is worse than spending a grand on the exhaust, and it leaks...

Avoid underdrive pullies if you have or plan to have an aftermarket stereo. They decrease the effectiveness of your alternator output, and with the current draw of the amps, you'll run into trouble.

looks like mine will be strictly for looks and investment then (if that's not an oxymoron to say a car is an investment), since I have a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty on it. I'll just keep it clean looking and try to enjoy it while i'm paying it off and sell it for the most possible years down the road. Getting a clear bra on it this weekend, tinted the windows, taking off stock emblems and putting Z emblems on there, and that's about it, besides maybe blowing a little money to have the dealer install the nismo cold air intake -if that's even worth it? If I buy it online new but have the dealer install it, is that warrantied, or do I need to buy the part from Nissan?
