Sweet review & video. I agree with most it except that the ride is better than stated & I don't hear the boominess in the cabin. Look at the measured times! I am telling you folks this car is much more than the specs.......

This Nismo Z test car posts some very impressive acceleration numbers — 5.1 seconds to 60 mph, 13.6 seconds through the quarter-mile at 103 mph. Among front-engine, rear-drive coupes on the near side of $50K, BMW's twin-turbo, 300-hp 335i is quicker, as are the Corvette and Shelby GT500. But these cars will take a few thousand more from your bank account than the Nismo Z.

As good as the Nismo feels on public roads, the true gains of its seam-welded chassis can only be realized in a track environment. For a car that weighs 3,354 pounds, a 71.0-mph slalom speed and 0.91g on the skid pad are signs of talent — the last Lotus Elise we tested had less than a 1-mph advantage in the slalom. Mount up the Nismo Z with stickier tires and you'll have a capable if portly track-day car straight from the Nissan dealership.

Awesome video and thanks for posting this. Hey jmark, are you adhering to the manuals break in procedure or just going after it? I just took delivery last week of an 07 Grand Touring red Coupe 6 speed and now have 300 miles but so far keeping under the 4000 rpm limit specified in the manual. The dealer techs say drive it anyway you want?? By the way, have you closely inspected your wheels? The day after I bought it, I found that the left front rim was scarred at the factory from mounting the tire. My dealer has a new Rays wheel under warranty of course ordered for me. Mark.

Yea I am adhering to the break in. To me it seems tough to keep the new 07 motor under 4K. Revs very easily & smoothly. Very impressed with the new motor & latest gearbox combo. The times Edmunds got are pretty impressive IMHO. My wheels seem fine so far.

I am already using the shift light. Motor just gets there pretty quick. I'll try to clean her up and get some shots this weekend.

Just a heads up I got this email from Eric with Sports Car International Magazine. Oct. issue? I think alot of the mags should have test out soon.

Hi Mark,

We did; our 5-page story is going into our next issue, which will be out in about a month from now.

I really dug the car. The handling is so spot on, and it's definitely the best-looking 350Z to date--love all the trick bits. Nissan should have done something like this years ago, as it's only with the NIsmo that they can really draw in the Evo/STI crowd.

You made a wise decision. Enjoy.
