World-Class Rear-Wheel-Drive

This is the 2010 Genesis Coupe, the two-door version of the rear-wheel-drive car that has won Hyundai grudging respect at last from the world's luxury carmakers. At its core, this top-line Genesis SE coupe is powered by Hyundai's 32-valve, 3.8-liter Lambda V6, which produces 299 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and delivers 266 pound-feet of torque at 4,700 rpm. A ZF-built 6HP26 six-speed transmission sends the power to the rear wheels.

This car looks substantial in person, measuring 182.3 inches long, 73.4 inches wide and 54.3 inches tall. The wheelbase is commensurately long at 111 inches. The suspension setup includes MacPherson struts up front, while a five-link independent arrangement controls the rear wheels. If the V6 is in place, the Genesis coupe weighs in at 3,549 pounds; if the turbocharged, intercooled, 212-hp 2.0-liter inline-4 is doing business under the hood, the car weighs 3,439 pounds.

There are three trim levels: entry-level GS with turbo inline-4; the GT with the V6; and the high-performance SE with a sport-tuned suspension, Brembo brakes and 19-inch tires matched to either the four- or six-cylinder.

Hyundai together with Kia represents the world's fifth-largest car manufacturer with a 70 percent share of its domestic market and growing respect in Europe. And today, with the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, the company has built a truly world-class product.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe vs Infiniti G37

The G Coupe seems to have a leaner, more aggressive look than the G37.

Thanks for posting! I know everyone literally hates on Hyundai and I'll get flamed... but I like that car!

Crap write up though...seemed more of a sightseeing article IMO.

lol yeah a bit too much focus on the scenery. I guess we'll have to wait for the full review for actual details on the car.

My good friend, lets wait and see how reliable this car really is. The G-37 has already proven itself.

I still wouldn't buy a Hyundai over an Infiniti. even if it is the money difference!

Doesn't just look like the G37, it also looks like the Audi A5 which is another very sexy looking car.

Sorry to say folks...but I think the Hyundai looks better than the G37...the 37 looks to soft and not aggressive enough.....I think Hyundai did a great job on that car and if I were car shopping again i'd would have to seriously take a look at it.

In the end it's a Hyundai.

I have to admit though, it does look pretty sleek. I think i'll sit in one at the Philly auto show.

+1

I'm sorry, I really really like the look of the new Genesis Coupe. This is a big step up for Hyundai, given their past exploits in the sports coupe industry (Tiburon? yuk!). I can't wait for some people to get a hold of this platform and start putting some crazy builds together.

I know you guys are kinda on the fence about this car because it's a Hyundai, but the Genesis coupe is kinda like that Nerdy guy you folks (the older members lol) always picked on a laughed at back in highschool. Then he went to the gym, bulked up and picked up on pop culture by watching some MTV and now he's the object of any woman's desires and he's having the last laugh.

Although I don't think Hyundai is going to be having the last laugh... I do think they got tired of their name not carrying that much weight in the Sport coupe industry... and they want to change that... and it gives me... goosebumps!

Edmunds talked more about the scenery than the car lol... the car does look nice though... like many people i want to see how reliable the car is... thats what attracted my to the infinity camp over bmw or benz... all these cars look nice... have great engine numbers.. but how much will it cost to keep the car preforming... how much time will i be in the service center each month? that my question...

will this car come with the 10 year/100k warranty?

Yeah they're covered by the 10 year warranty like all Hyundais. Now there's also the Hyundai Assurance program where if you lose your income within a year Hyundai will take the vehicle back without penalty or damaging your credit.

I feel that Hyundai constantly imitates other manufacturers - the rear end of the Santa Fe can resemble the new Murano, the front end of the Genesis Sedan reminds me of my mother's S Class every time I see one, and this def has a striking resemblance to the G Coupe. Regardless of the likeable aesthetic appeal of this car, my blood boils over Hyundai and this observation.

However - my neighbor has a black Genesis Sedan, and it's look is definitely appealing and intrigues me.

As Marlin is doing, I'm going to have to also check it out at the Philly Auto Show - especially since Nissan kindly gave me free tickets!

There was a family in Russia they were always wondering about growing oranges. One day they brought a little orange tree from Spain. Since they heard spanish orange is the best. They were taking care of the tree on daily basis. Few years later te tree had its first orange. They took the orange and peeled it. After the guy tasted it. He says well the orange is a little yellowish and soury but it is definnitely Orange a Russian Orange. Even these days they swear it is the best orange you can find.

Gosh it is 3 in the morning. ARGH.
