Wow he quit the show a few months back.

Of course Brewer isn't happy with him, but screw him Edd was the driving force of that show.

Hopefully Edd does another show or wrenches on Youtube.

It sounds like Mike Brewer is going to keep doing Wheeler Dealers and have someone replace Edd.

First Aaron Kaufman leaves Gas Monkey and now Edd.

Thoughts? Anyone know what is going to happen to Gas Monkey Garage?

Way to go Velocity channel. I don't blame Edd one bit.
Take a great show and ruin it because you want to exploit their success by altering the format and commercializing the show.
Now you want to do product placements and reduce the nuts and bolts part of the show. Idiots.
I watched an episode of the Car Guys the other night, and couldn't sit through the whole show. Blatant product placements and adverts.
It was more like sitting through an infomercial than a car show.
Pity that Wheeler Dealers is going in the same direction.

I guess there aren't many car shows left worth watching.
Some shows are very obviously contrived and scripted, with fake arguments and conflicts, supposedly to add some dramatic flare.
I can't stand Counting Cars as an example. Danny Koker is too full of himself, and his crew is not much better.
The only one I really enjoy watching now is Chasing Classic Cars.
Wayne Carini is down to earth, and he keeps the focus on the cars, and not himself. Hopefully that won't change.

Exactly Velocity f*** this up big time!

The last season they did some real cool builds, (I should say Edd did some real cool builds) and they didn't show 80% of the build!! That is what I want to see.
He built that '65 Land Rover survivalist car and did a complete restro with a water filtration system (which could be one episode itself) and barley showed any of it!!

I'm happy Edd left on his own terms.

@Buzzman I agree the shows are all scripted. Gas Monkey has been scripted from the beginning, but I did still enjoy it, mainly because of the people.

The best car shows are on youtube now.

The best youtube mechanic is South Main Auto. Eric O is hands down the best and can make changing a tire interesting!

I have to disagree with you on Chasing Classic Cars. I don't like Wayne Carini. Just something about him.. I don't know, don't care for the show.

The only other car show on TV I watch is Fantom Works. It's scripted of course, but the owner really likes his job.

there are still a couple of decent car shows on free tv that I'll watch. with apologies to darylzero, I kinda like wayne Carini and Chasing Classic Cars. He can be a bit sanctimonious, like Peter Klug on Legendary Motors, but both guys are quite knowledgeable and focus on a bigger variety of collector cars than just 'Murican muscle. I'm sure some will flame me, but I think Jay Leno's car show on CNBC is also entertaining. A bit schlocky at times, but watchable. Regarding wheeler dealers, I think Velocity let the wrong guy leave. Edd China's knowledge and the fact I've driven most of the cars Edd and his team restored are the only things that kept me interested in that show, not a sleazy sales guy making pre-arranged deals.

@darylzero, I can understand how you would see Carini that way, but I still like the show for the cars and the auctions. Like Bubba1 said, it's not about 60's muscle cars. I can get enough of that watching Barret-Jackson.
I haven't seen Leno's show since he moved to CNBC, but I liked it when it was on the main network.
I'll watch Fantom Works, but the formula is always the same: Bring in a car, tear it down, find out it's worse than they though, ask for more money from the owner, and then finish it off. It's lost it's luster for me.
As for Gas Monkey, yes, it's scripted, but, I like the people, especially Rawlings. He's a showman.
BTW, I haven't seen his blonde haired secretary Christie. Apparently she's pretty sick (cancer). She's in a fight for her life.
As for Wheeler Dealers, I just can't see it being the same without Edd.
Same thing happened with Top Gear. Never the same without the 3 musketeers.
Hey, has anyone seen their new series (Grand Tour) on Amazon? I watched every episode. Classic. Loved it.

I saw about half of season 1 of Grand Tour on youtube before they cracked down it. It has a familiar feel to it and is fun. Better than the recycled-then-recycled-again- without -changing-anything-except-the-presenters-TG-UK . But I'm not sure I'd subscribe to Amazon Prime for the sole purpose of seeing the one show.

No need to apologize ;) So far I'm in the minority with not liking him.

@buzzmann wow did not know that about Christie, was wondering why she hadn't been around for awhile. That's too bad I like her, plus doesn't she have like 10 kids or something crazy?

Haven't watched Grand Tour.

Yeah FantomWorks is pretty much how you summed it up, but I still enjoy it and like the new older mechanic they got. He seems to know his s***.

Re: Christie. I googled her because I hadn't seen her on Gas Monkey for a while. I thought maybe she quit, and that they just kept it quiet.
Turned out she was in a bad way (cancer), but is apparently doing much better.
Yes, she has a lot of kids. 6 I believe.

I still watch Fantom Works too, despite the familiar script. Dan has some very talented people working there.
I always wonder where people like Dan find these guys. They must be few and far between.
Then there's guys like the ones that work at Misfit/Fired Up Garage (Gas Monkey's ex employees and now their competitor). What a bunch of Bozo's.
On the plus side, I absolutely LOVE Sue Martin, the upholsterer. She should have her own show.
