We're trying to start my newly S13 SR20DET'd 1997 S14, and we're having trouble with the ECU. When we have the key in the 3rd position, interior electronics work (radio, lights) as they should. When we turn the key to the 4th position where the motor cranks, the ECU cuts off and the engine isn't getting spark. We had the wiring harnesses professionaly spliced. Has anyone had this problem? I searched and found nothing.

When i crank my ecu light goes dead. Also all my accessories tapped into the ECU power turn off. This is normal.

Wait, are you talking about the little red light on the ECU. That's supposed to turn off when the motors cranked?

Mine does, and my car starts. Sorry to give the bad news but the problem is probably elsewhere.

Fuel injectors are controlled by the ECU so your ECU is working.

You might have an issue with your ignitor.

So if the motor is cranking then the ECU is staying on and the ECU is not the problem?

To clarify, the injectors aren't pulsing but the fuel rail is charging up.
