Just wondering what kind of tunning I would have to do to my stock ECU (if any) If I'm currently using an HKS VPC, and an s15 bb turbo, and upgrading my injectors to something around 500cc.

Not exactly sure what kind of chipping I would need, considering there is no MAF or if the VPC would simply take care of the ecu.

Thanks in advance!

whats the VPC stand for or what does it do?

my suggestion would be get 550cc injectors and z32 maf and rechip the ecu. i have the binary files for it. i could even burn you the chip once i get my programmer. and get an safc or something to fine tune along with wideband o2. thatd be a nice, safe setup.

how? safc's are only safe and meant for fine tuning. an safc will alter the fuel maps but will it alter ignition maps?

A VPC is a "Vein Pressure Converter" HKS discontinued making these but they're still around. It basically replaces the MAF and uses its own Air Temp sensor and Air Pressure Sensor to send a signal to the ECU (converts it to a MAP). You can even run the car with an open thorttle body like an NA car.

Anyway, you can adjust idle, air/fuel ratios, and response. It's like the SAFC in a way. If you want to read more about it click here http://www.hksusa.com/products/more.asp?id=858 . There are a few people running VPC's on here I think too.

Hope this helps you guys understand what a VPC is/does. But I'm still wondering what kind of ECU tunning I'd have to do if I'm ugrading my injectors (using the VPC). Thanks again!

yeah, your ROM tune. yeah keep your VPC. they sound pretty sweet, wish i could find one. you should need an safc if you have it, just get a rom tune and you should be good.

If u change the afm settings in the ecu its gonna mess up the tune. If your vpc is for a ca18 then it creates a signal for a stock ca18 AFM. thats what the ecu has to be looking for.

You can remove speedlimits, boostcut, and adjust for different injectors, timing map, fuel maps. Just leaves the afm stuff alone.

Cool thanks for the info, thats was I though (Yeah the vpc has a ca18det chip in it).

So basically I just reprogram the rom in the ecu for anything else (like injectors) and not touch the AFM stuff. I've been reading about reporogramming the ROM myself but all the .bin files for them change the AFM settings for a Z32 MAF.... Guess I have to find one that doesnt change the afm.

I can tune your Rom Setup for you for about $200 if you core exchange a no.78 ecu with me.

Or,

You can go Full Baller Status and buy a Haltech E8 Ecu with a Plug and Play patch harness for the CA18det from me. This, would KILL it. Full map sensor support (sell the vpc), rev limiters, full fuel control 32x32mapping... the list goes on..

:-D
