Ok, I have a friend who has the hardware to tune ecu's I'm trying to figure out how advanced the timing should be to get optimum hp gains across the whole rpm band. detonations not really a issue because when I race I'm using 100 octane fuel. So Im wondering how many degrees advanced its should be at 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k, 5k ,6k ,7k. I've heard that when you get into the higher rpms you want the timing to actually be retarded a few degrees for optimum hp. I'm just wondering if there are any brains out there that know the optimum setting as well as fuel curve. Any JWT guys who want to share their knowledge with a poor college student working on a slim budget and trying to get the most power possible with no $$$.Or if anyone has already written code for this that is downloadable or knows where to get roms that would also help out a lot.

Your timing needs to advance further and further as the RPMs increase, it also depends on throttle position. Honestly, if you don't know what you're doing, don't screw with it.

ka24de dohc ecu? In order to start tuning this you will need a twin eprom daughter board installed in your ecu. Due to the nature and size of the topic to continue, I suggest you go to zcontrol.net and forum.ztechz.net and start reading.

typically with any modern NA engine the spark angle will continue to rise thru the entire rpm range. Sometimes you will spark angle advance to a point and flatten out for the rest of the rpm range. In your case, you have a 16x16 timing map rpm vs. airflow. Timing increases with added rpm/airflow until redline, or until you hit the edge of the map, then it will flatten. Stock map goes up to 6000rpm on sohc not sure on dohc.

edit: I do not know what the stock settings on the map correlate to in actual spark advance. You might want to get a full degree pulley to check. Ill have my standalone map set soon ill let you know what i find.

Well my friend who tunes them has tuned his a few times but he's tuning it for a turbo kade, so he hasnt really test and tuned the NA ka's so I'm just trying to find somewhere to get pre programed rom files. I came across a website last year that had a few that you could download but I didnt have access to the hardware back then. Now that I do I cant find the site, and I'm trying to find the best setup for my car.

Hey Devious in your pick you have individual throttle bodies, where did you get the throttle bodies for your ka24e? How much did they cost also can you drive daily with them or just when racing? They look like something I need

Extract your oem na rom image from the consult interface. Either this or try find someone elses to download. It would be best to start tuning off the exact rom image that came from your car. All that you need for consult is zcontrol.net adapter and software (calumsult i think).

My itb setup is all custom fabricated. I dont have a finished dohc version yet but i sell the sohc manifold w/water neck that clears stock p/s for $300. That picture below is early early stages. Car is parked for winter it will be daily driven next spring.
