Ok I've gone up and down these forums looking for an answer to my question; has anyone had their Versa's ECU tuned by a pro and how much was it? When I say tuned I mean actually tuned, not just popping on an ebay "tuning" chip  . I know that a lot of power can be gotten from doing this modification, but I don't know where to go or how much it'll cost. Anyone have any answers? :poke:

I live about four hours from Austin. So the tune that guy got only gave him 5 more hp? Did it do anything else at all?

So you live in Houston correct? and yeah he did get 5hp, but a maual transmission should be geeting slightly more becuase the cvt transmission if im not mistaken is not rated in hp.

If im not mistaken from what i have read is that when they dyno the a vehicle that has a cvt transmision, First they say its alot harder second that its not rated in hp they have to convert it or something like tht lol Atx should be able to explain it in a lot more detail....Again correct me if im wrong thats just from things i read online.

Ok so I've been down to a couple shops in Houston and one guy told me he'd do it all for $350. Another gave me a huge list of BS about how imports can't be tuned because it needs a standalone system. Rip Off. So did this guy get his Versa tuned with HP tuner?

HP Tuners is primarily for GMs, or that is all I have ever heard it referenced with.

UPRev in Austin is correct but I don't know ant phone number for them.

Yup, that's the number. I called and they weren't there but I'll check back later. Too bad all they had was a CVT transmission. Kinda lame that we couldn't see it on a manual or even an automatic so we could get an accurate reading on power :tisk:

Hey I have some good news to any versa owners in Houston that want their ECU tuned without driving to Austin. There is a shop called Power Fab in Houston off of FM 1960 that specializes in Nissan and other imports. I talked to the owner and the lead programmer for the shop and it seems real legit. They'll do a scan and tune for about $300, and they use the uprev software as well. I'm going on Monday to have my ECU scanned and then another day I'll go back and have it reflashed. Let me know if anyone wants the address or number. Or just go to Powerfabauto.com

After a lot of work with them they finally said that they could tune my ECU. They downloaded it a few days ago and I'm just waiting for them to call me back when they're ready to flash.

On a side note, does anyone know the name of the software UpRev uses for tuning?

Awesome. I've been talking to a tuner in Houston (Kingwood) who is very interested in getting this software. Hopefully if he's able to get a hold of it, we could have another tuner more local to us

Look at the rest of the forum dude. The versa that was tuned was a cvt transmission, which means it can't be rated in HP because at WOT it only sits at 1000 rpm. Tuning for our manual and automatic transmissions can produce anywhere from 40 to 60 HP depending on the tune used and the skill of the tuner

Good God.

No, WOT on a CVT car does not = 1000 rpm.

40-60hp? Dude, I'm not even gonna get into that. I've been building cars for a long time, and there's not 40-60 hp "hidden" in the ECU tuning. Maybe 4-6, but not anywhere CLOSE to 40-60.

Don't be spreading ridiculous and misleading information.

So, just a tune will give a Versa up to a 50% increase in HP? Who'd a thunk?

Nissan Engineers must be really stupid. Imagine the millions they spent on tuning the engine and they missed some simple variables.

Didn't you guys know? The Versa's engine was originally designed for F1, but they decided to scale it back a bit to get better gas mileage.

They also co-developed a NASCAR version, but to get those power levels you need to convert to a carburetor.
