Ok I am fairly new to posting on this site so please bare with me. I have a 96 240sx that is completely stock and want to do little things to this engine before I get the time and money to do a AWD RB26dett swap. I want to be able to flash the ECU with a consult cable whenever I want. I haven't found any info on if the ECU has a EEPROM chip or if it has a EPROM chip. Does anyone know which chip the ECU has? Does anyone have a circuit board diagram for the ECU? Has anyone put a EEPROM chip in themselves if the 96 does have a EPROM chip? I'm not looking to spend lots of money on this engine so I am looking for diy ideas so I can re-flash the ECU on the fly. p.s yes I have spent numerous hours researching this and yes I know about the daughter boards from nistune.

Also does anyone know if the circuit board is the same on a 96 Altima I know the altima has the same number of pins as the 240sx but the terminal reference values are different. Want a ECU to practice on so I still have a stock ECU to put back in if I mess up.

I'm fairly certain the Altima ECU is different.

Why would you try to re-invent the wheel, when Nistune has already done it? It sounds like their product is EXACTLY what you are looking for.

I like figuring out how things work and it would save me major $ if I can figure this out. I have looked at nistune and they want over $100 for just the cable that's not including software and chipping my ECU. I think I am make the cable that they sell for around $10 dollars still investigating and doing research on how to make it work. And all they are doing is putting a EEPROM chip in so you can electronically tune your car which the EEPROM chips are like $1 a piece. So if I can do this myself for $20 why would I not? The 96 Altima ECU has exactly the same number of pins and only is missing some output signals for certain sensors so I'm thinking it might even be possible to take my ECU data and flash it to a 96 Altima after I put a EEPROM chip in it if they have a EPROM.
