Huh that's strange. Mines says 77, and some one wrote HC34 with a permanent ink marker. Ive been meaning to research it but I never have lol.

not an rb20det ecu...common rb20 ecus are the BH (manual), 22, and 23...there is another Bx ecu that is for the automatic.
looks like you have an rb20de ECU.
see here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 963280.htm
You can have it chipped and brought up to rb20det spec as the ecus are just about identical except for the prom on the board.

That's fantastic because I put 3K miles on it like that, and I even had it dyno'd at 217whp on a dynapack.

It seems to run like its already had a turbo map put on it already, super smooth etc etc.

I have to pull my cover off again, but it didn't look like there was a chip but I wasn't looking for one...

open the cover and look for a socket on the ecu...i highly doubt it has a chip.
also running the rb20det is possible on the rb20de ecu but it will have LOADS of timing and not enough fuel...perhaps that is why the hg and other nastyness happened on your swap rustspecs13.

I donno, the heat gasket had a 1/4in channel between a coolant port and #1 and there's no signs of detonation. It did not look like it had a chip, but I'll go open it up after I throw some laundry together.

The two problems I really had were the head gasket and timing belt tensioner bolt failure. The ignitor went bad and acted very strange for a couple weeks. It does feel very sluggish off boost or below 2K and I advanced the cas a little, still no detonation marks.

You guys have me paranoid, I might try to get nistune, but of course then i have to know what ecu I have....crap.
