I just got my s13 blacktop delivered. But, I am missing my ECU.

Can I modify the stock ka24 ecu? If not which ecu do I need? What are my alternatives? Where can I get a used one?

You need an E5 or 62 ECU.

Do you know what year blacktop you got? Do you have a wiring harness?

How can you tell what year?

I have the full harness. It has the plug for it. It looks like it fell off in shipment. The company said it was on there when they shipped it.

You might have to check the pinout of your wire harness if your importer can't tell you. Pretty crappy that they're not sending you a new ecu. I'd demand one.

Anway, there are two different harnesses for blacktop engines...one uses the more common pinout for #62 and E5 type ecus while the other was pinned for J4 (like mine). If you get the wrong ecu, you'll have to repin your harness (not a big deal, just letting you know). Since you have a blacktop, I'd at least get an E5 since that is what's meant for your engine's sensors.

Either trace the wires on your harness using a pinout or ask your importer what ecu went with it or what year they yanked it from.
