I did an ecu reset on my 2011 M56 and now it won't stay running. I'm getting very little throttle response. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

How did you do the reset? Is the CEL blinking?

How did you do the reset? Via device/OBDII port or via the manual steps?

I thought when you do the "pedal dance" aka the "Idle Air Volume Learning" procedure you were also supposed to do the:

1. "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning" procedure AND the
2. "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" procedure

See this thread: post6495635.html?hilit=idle%20relearn#p6495635 and look at 4th post down.

When I recently cleaned my throttle bodies and as far into the plenum as I could reach, I did the Idle Air Volume Learning procedure a couple of times, but my RPMs were still too high at idle. So, I did all the other steps first as described in the above post and everything went back to within factory specs.

I'm thinking that the steps above do not apply to some of the 5.6 V8's. That thread is on the M35/45 forum. I could never get any of those reset procedures to work on my 2012 M56x. When I had the timing chain recall work done, the battery was unhooked for a week or so. This seems to be the only way I could get mine to reset. I would try and unhook the battery for a while and see if that works.
