Okay so I am now the proud owner of a 1991 Nissan Zed X rwd m/t (NA unfortunately) and I was looking into ecu chip upgrades when I found that the ecu in my car is actually from a skyline r32 rb20det rwd m/t. I’m fairly new to computer upgrades and tuning so I’m just wondering what the pros and cons are to having a skyline ecu in my 300zx? Regards.

I guess the question is do you have the RB engine in it as well? If not, I'm honestly kinda surprised the thing runs. I didn't think that would be possible honestly. Good for you if it does, I'm just not sure at all how haha

No I’m still running my good old bulletproof vg30de but it is a trip how I have a different ecu

1. How do you know its an RB ECU? Have you cross referenced it with the ECU list? Google "JWT VG30DE ECU List"
2. Crazier things have happened but with enough tuning and rewiring it's possible to run other/different Nissan OBD1 ECUs, the question would be why.

Yes I checked the listings for Nissan ecus and it is indeed off an rb and I’m wondering the same thing, why?? I bought the car second hand and it was pretty much bone stock except for a wire running from the clutch to the starter if I remember correctly, which allows for me to turn the car over without having to step on the clutch pedal. I’m really on here for some technical issues I’m having with my car now. Whenever I’m driving it once I hit about 3k rpms my car will start jerking like crazy and if I’m at a standstill whenever I rev the engine either via pedal or throttle cable the car will choke off and rpms will drop down then back up to 3k and repeat. Help please!!

Sounds like you need to get the correct ECU in there before you go chasing any solutions.

That’s the move. Currently I have a proper ecu in transit to concept z performance in AZ to get socketed and chipped.
