are the CA18DET and CA16DE ecu's in any way related? I found someone stateside that can reprogram CA18DET ECU's and I was wondering if he can just reprogram my CA16DE to CA18DET specs? are they both EPROM based? any additional sensors from the DET? this would save me an assload of both time and money to be able to use my stock wiring harness and ECU.

best regards,McAdam

p.s. oh yeah, if anyone has any webspace to host a couple of images, I have some pics of ET vs. DE rods and a pic of how the ET 83mm head gasket lines up to the 16DE 78mm head. I have a TON of room to unshroud the valveS!!!! yeeehaw! bowl hogging will be done too!

awwe nuts. may be looking at just getting an E-manage, all the flexability of a standalone at the price of a wiring harness and ecu. anyone have any experience with those?

not really as flexible as a standalone but moreso than a SAFC. There was something wrong with the ignition setup for the CA that caused trouble for at least one member here. There is supposed to be a patch now but I am unaware of the particulars.
