Ecu question?

Car: 89 240sx with sr20det swap that doesn't currently run

I'm trying to get my Ecu 62 to give me some fault codes but for some reason i can't get the light to flash on the side of the ecu anymore, it just stays sold, do i have a defective ecu or is there some kind of sequence you need to go throughthanks again

Turn the key to the on position and rotate the small screw counter clockwise iirc.
