Hey there,
I have a 1997 Nissan Pickup D21
2.4L 4Cyl
RWD Auto

When I bought it it wouldn't run and wasn't getting fuel. So i replaced the fual pump.

Now it throws codes. But all 3 of my code readers say error.
It takes about 5 minutes of cranking before it starts( unless it is warm )and it wont rev over 3000 RPM. And sometimes when it starts it runs but bounces between 1500 RPM and 0 RPM every 3 seconds. I am fairly sure it is my ECU. I have reset the ECU but it makes no difference. If anyone has any other ideas or thoughts on this that would be great????

Also, if it is my ECU. I have tried everything to find either a new or used one. For used ones i have had no luck. I can find ones that come out of same truck, year, engine, trans but the numbers on the outside of the ECU are all way off. Can i use one with different numbers? Or can just certain ones be interchanged? if so, which ones?
Any ideas where else to look for a used or new one? please let me know.

And the Nissan dealer tells me that they have to get one made for the truck. Which they say costs almost 800 bucks.

What codes are being thrown by the ECM? Or are you saying you can't read the codes at all?

Since it's a 97 and auto it won't interchange with anything but itself. The cheapest bet would be to check a wrecking yard. I get computers for about $40 most of the time.

I have been completely unable to find anyone with the same or similar serial numbers. Any suggestions on where else to get one?
