I think it has to do more with the board. I say so because, I went back and eliminated one by one every wire that the OBDII, in comparison with the OBD1 ECU, uses so that this way I can trouble shoot where is this short ( if it is a short). Yet the car still only starts with the OBD1 ECU.
Now the real ***** about all of this is emissions testing for NYC and NJ. You must take the test through the OBD plug, or else you won’t pass. From what I read, It was made into law that if your car is OBDII you cant pass the test via the sniffer. So it I don’t know what I will do now, and when I plan to install an SR in the future.
BTW, I think you should swap the ECU, they are very cheap if you buy them through car-parts.com. I bought mines for $75.00. I just call one of the shops what came on the search, and they sent it by mail. Good luck.
