hey. so my sentra has been giving me some problems, and i bought it to a shop to have it scanned and they told me that the ECU/ECM is bad, but i dont really think it is... can anyone confirm this for me?
it has had a problem: it died out on me once on the freeway and had no acceleration, but still ran, but the gas pedal pretty much did nothing. but i turned the car off and let it sit for a few minutes, and started it u again and it worked fine. and did not give me a problem again for a few weeks, but not it is doing it again, at first it would have no throttle response but if you turned the car off and the back on it would work. however now it have no throttle response at-all. you can drive it in 1st gear but it will not go faster then about 10mph. and it has no throttle response. i think it has more to do with the drive by wire then the ECM. but i could be wrong?...

and does anyone know the ECM number/code for a 2003 ser specV?

thank you guys so very much!!!

Sounds like your car is in limp mode.

Did they give you the DTC code they pulled with their scanner? I'd be willing to guess there's something in there about the mass air flow sensor. Check it out and post back with what you find. If it's the MAF, there's a way to upgrade to the more rigid 04-06 MAF.

I would start with a simple fix of the crank angle position sensor. Common issue and gives the same symptoms you described. The part cost $20-25 @ any auto parts store and can be replaced in about 1hr or less. If the ECU is bad, which they are known for that as well, you will have to match the code off your ECU to make sure you get the right one. You will have to remove the ECU to get the code. If the car has less than 80k miles and was put in service less than 8 yrs ago, the ECU is covered under the emissions warranty of 8yr/80k miles. Just food for thought if you fall into that category. If that is the case, Nissan would be responsible for replacing the ecu, which I had one on my wife's car.

+ 1 on this...when you get the sensor, make sure it's the kind with the metal housing, not the crap plastic original ones.

You might even be able to get it done free, there's a recall/reprogram for the crank sensor. The recall consists of replacing the cam and crank sensors with the re-designed ones. Call up your dealer and have them run your VIN. There's also a recall for an ECM update for stalling conditions.
